It’s considered by many as the premier luxury online fashion event and attracts up to six million shoppers each month.
Net-a-Porter – established in 2000 – brings designer ready-to-wear labels and accessories to 170 countries worldwide, and is the go-to place for women who want their fashion fast.
Sarah Rutson, the vice president of global buying, gives us the inside track on this season’s edit.
Currently trending
The term “trend” is simply the dialogue our industry uses to unify a season and, of course, we keep it in mind when placing our buy. However, we always have our global customer top of mind. Whether she is planning her wardrobe for some winter sun, heading off on a city break, looking for a new slant on workwear or re-evaluating how she wants to update her weekend wardrobe, we want her to be able to come to us for the best edit across the most desirable brands.
Leading labels and lines
Top-selling brands in the Middle East include Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Oscar de la Renta and Stella McCartney. We sell all categories incredibly well and Net-a-Porter is known as the industry lead for ready-to-wear online – we also have the best shoe and bag edit. At the moment, lingerie is seeing very strong sales, along with our activewear category, since the launch of Net-a-Sporter in 2014.
Wardrobe for January
If you're on the go, The Row Rina fringed cashmere cape is a must-have for when the air-conditioning is up high and you feel a little chilly. Over-the-knee boots by Gianvito Rossi, Vetements patchwork jeans and an exclusive Elizabeth and James feather sweater would make for a strong winter wardrobe.
Must-haves this season
Francesco Russo shoes are a new favourite for the evening and we have some fabulous exclusive styles this season. Self-Portrait (by designer Han Chong) is fantastic for great partywear, as is Alice and Olivia (by designer Stacey Bendet), both at great price points. Tibi's (by designer Amy Smilovic) feathers are fun if you don't want sparkly embellishments this season.
Fashion fads
Just when you think you don’t like something, it can come back a few seasons later and reinvent itself. It’s why we love fashion and why we never say never.
Personal style
I love versatile twists on classics that can be morphed and broken down, so that they can be reinvented and the look is kept fresh.
First-class style savant
I admire women who look like they haven't tried too hard. That's style to me. Virginie Mouzat, the editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair France, for example.
