Salma Rachid is still working on her anticipated debut album.
Speaking from the Mawazine Festival from her native Morocco, the 2013 Arab Idol contestant said she is taking a cautious approach when recording the new material to ensure it's quality.
“I have been performing a lot and getting more experience on that front,” she said. “I am extremely hard on myself and when it comes to the album it is about finding the right songs.”
The 19-year-old did reveal, though, that one of the recorded songs will be sung in her native Moroccan dialect.
With local journalists enquiring why she limited herself to only one track, thus far, Rachid says it was down to her connection with the track.
“It’s not about doing a Moroccan song and that’s all,” she explained. “The song has to touch me first and be suitable with where I am at the moment. So far, this song does that for me.”
