Groove-starved funk and disco fans will have some salvation with the news there’s a new night in town. And hosted at Dubai’s grimy Casa Latina, you can bet it will be all about the music, not the glitz.
Sporting the ironic-sounding moniker Superdiscotheque, the night is the work of the new Beg Steal Borrow Crew. Details are scant, but the event flyer promises funk, disco, boogie and soul. In that order.
Given the venue’s tradition of hosting unpretentious, underground nights, such as the monthly indie shindig Bad House Party, you can almost guarantee this will be the real deal. Not a sparkler in sight.
• Superdiscotheque kicks off on Friday March 13, from 9pm, and is expected to take place monthly. Entry is free before 11pm, or Dh60 after including two drinks.
