Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee can’t wait to come to Abu Dhabi

Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee says he can’t wait to introduce his band mates to the joys of the UAE when the vand touches down in Abu Dhabi for their November 20 gig at du Arena.

Lee performed here a few years ago at Gulf Bike Week, although the rest of his band have never previously visited the UAE.

“Motley have never been over there,” he says. “They’re gonna freak the hell out cos it’s so cool over there. We’re so excited. I can’t wait to get back there.”

Lee may be rock royalty, treated as a megastar wherever he goes, but it seems the famous UAE hospitality hasn’t passed him by.

“I just can’t wait to get back there,” says the drummer. “I just DJ’d there that time, and was treated like a king. It was unbelievable. The people are so sweet and so polite. I’m going to stay after the show and take my fiancée to Dubai for a couple of days after the gig. She’s never been and I just think she’s gonna flip out, it’s just incredible there.”

With 34 years in the business, Mötley Crüe live shows have historically aroused the ire of feminist groups, dwarf support organisations and hairdressers, but Lee insists nothing about this, Mötley Crüe’s final, farewell tour will be toned down for local audiences or “cultural sensibilities”.
