Lest We Forget Festival seeking home movies for screenings

The Lest We Forget exhibition of Emirati culture at Abu Dhabi's Qasr Al Hosn Exhibition Centre is looking for films to show as part of its new series of interactive screenings.

The screenings began last week with Nawaf Al Janahi's Sea Shadow, followed by an interactive discussion between the audience and the cast and crew of the film, including the director.

However the exhibition organisers are not only looking for professional films, as creative director Michelle Bambling explains: “We’re looking at ways to engage audiences in conversation about traditional and contemporary culture. I’m especially interested in looking at film right now and the ways in which people show culture through films, not only professional films, but also vernacular.

“I’m very interested to find home movies and for people to start to talk about memories and representation of place through film.”

The screenings take place in a highly informal environment, with the focus on audience responses rather than a formal question-and-answer session with the film makers, so if you're a home-movie buff that's interested in putting your films forward, please get in touch through the website at www.qasralhosnfestival.ae.
