Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, who is at Cannes as a brand ambassador of L’Oréal Paris, was photographed on the red carpet on Wednesday night, May 13, with Julianne Moore.
Moore, who won Best Actress (Maps to the Stars) at Cannes in 2014 but was unable to receive it, was presented with the honour at this year's Mini-Palme.
The Hollywood star, also a L’Oréal ambassador, and Kaif spent a few minutes talking about their careers.
“They spoke about the number of films that Katrina has done and how she had to learn Hindi. They also complimented each other on the dress and make-up that they donned for the red carpet,” said a source.
Kaif, whose last film was 2014's runaway action-comedy Bang Bang! opposite Bollywood hunk Hrithik Roshan, will next be seen Fitoor and Jagga Jasoos. Both films are due out later this year. Cannes runs until May 24.

The smuggler
Eldarir had arrived at JFK in January 2020 with three suitcases, containing goods he valued at $300, when he was directed to a search area.
Officers found 41 gold artefacts among the bags, including amulets from a funerary set which prepared the deceased for the afterlife.
Also found was a cartouche of a Ptolemaic king on a relief that was originally part of a royal building or temple.
The largest single group of items found in Eldarir’s cases were 400 shabtis, or figurines.
Khouli conviction
Khouli smuggled items into the US by making false declarations to customs about the country of origin and value of the items.
According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, he provided “false provenances which stated that [two] Egyptian antiquities were part of a collection assembled by Khouli's father in Israel in the 1960s” when in fact “Khouli acquired the Egyptian antiquities from other dealers”.
He was sentenced to one year of probation, six months of home confinement and 200 hours of community service in 2012 after admitting buying and smuggling Egyptian antiquities, including coffins, funerary boats and limestone figures.

A number of other items said to come from the collection of Ezeldeen Taha Eldarir are currently or recently for sale.
Their provenance is described in near identical terms as the British Museum shabti: bought from Salahaddin Sirmali, "authenticated and appraised" by Hossen Rashed, then imported to the US in 1948.

- A coffin lid dating back to 664BC-332BC was offered for sale by a Colorado-based art dealer, with a starting price of $65,000

What: The Al Burda Festival

The Al Burda Festival is a celebration of Islamic art and culture, featuring talks, performances and exhibitions. Organised by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, this one-day event opens with a session on the future of Islamic art. With this in mind, it is followed by a number of workshops and “masterclass” sessions in everything from calligraphy and typography to geometry and the origins of Islamic design. There will also be discussions on subjects including ‘Who is the Audience for Islamic Art?’ and ‘New Markets for Islamic Design.’ A live performance from Kuwaiti guitarist Yousif Yaseen should be one of the highlights of the day.
