Are you the kind of discerning music fan that sits at home bemoaning how few original/arty/underground indie acts pass through the UAE? Still pining about the time Black Lips played Dubai back in 2012?
Well, listen up – there’s a treat in store.
The delightful indie darlings at Bad House Party – who recently celebrated one year of throwing eclectic curveballs to appreciative open crowds at Casa Latina – are coming through on their promise to bring live bands to the region. And boy do they deserve a hand.
Seemingly having scoured Bandcamp pages of acts as far away from the UAE as possible (climate-speaking, at least) the BHP gang have rustled up not one, but TWO indie acts hailing from – get this – Iceland.
Topping the March 5 bill is Berndsen, the eponymous project from red-bearded auteur David Berndsen, who shamelessly raids the dreamy synth sounds of the 1980s to create dreamily charming offbeat pop, and boasts two albums to his name.
Also performing will be Hermigervill, a more jagged and dancey electro-pop producer of ample talent and invention, liable to make you both think and fidget.
In short – huu-raah! Indie music in the UAE. Real, live, kicking, self-consciously serious indie music! Yay.
• Hosted at Casa Latina, Ibis Al Barsha, on Thursday, March 5. Tickets are Dh100 on the door
