Home improvements: Tips to spruce up your second bathroom

Many homes in the UAE come with a second bathroom, but they tend to be on the smaller side. If you find decorating this room difficult, consider these simple tricks.

Try to keep the floor area clear by choosing a pedestal sink, rather than one with an attached unit below it – it will save space and make your bathroom look more stylish.

Add a set of shelves that run vertically, rather than horizontally. Not only will this make up for a lack of storage, it will also create the impression of a higher ceiling.

When it comes to painting or tiling, opt for lighter, more subdued shades of grey, blue and white.

Keep your decorative pieces to a minimum if possible. While a fresh bouquet of flowers sounds lovely, unless it’s small, the vase alone will take up unnecessary space.

Instead, opt for a single candle, or look to items such as your soap dish and toothbrush holder as a way to “kill two birds with one stone”.

You can also use your walls as an alternative option for sprucing up your bathroom, by hanging one or two pictures or photographs.
