Lotion bars are a great way to moisturise on the go. The bars will melt slightly when they come into contact with the warmth of your skin, and will soften and protect it.
Best of all, they are easy to make. Your key ingredients are half a cup each of coconut oil, beeswax, shea butter and cocoa butter. Beyond that, you’ll need five drops of an essential oil of your choice – lavender is our favourite.
Start by melting your base ingredients until they are in liquid form. You can do this by placing them in a glass measuring cup or bowl. Put this in a pot with water reaching around halfway up. Bring the water to the boil, stirring constantly.
Remove your cup or bowl from the pan and add your oils, stirring thoroughly. Pour the mixture into moulds (make them heart-shaped for extra cuteness), and then leave to sit overnight. You can aid the cooling process by placing your moulds in the fridge for a couple of hours.
Once solidified, remove your lotion bars from their moulds, place in an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place so that they don’t melt.
