Sometimes a jewellery box just won’t cut it, especially when it comes to those fiddly necklaces. Who wants to spend time untangling chains and searching for lost pendants? Luckily, we have a solution. All you need is a piece of wood, some doorknobs and, if you like, some paint.

Start by sanding down your piece of wood to get rid of unwanted splinters or bumps. Once that’s done, apply a coat of paint to both sides and allow to dry. Try choosing a shade that matches the general colour scheme of your jewellery. Once the paint has dried, use a pencil to mark where you would like to position the doorknobs. Allow for enough space between each one, especially if you are partial to chunkier costume jewellery. Drill a hole where you’ve made your marks and insert a screw into the hole, leaving enough space to attach your doorknob on to one end. Attach the knobs.

Finally, mount the plank of wood onto your wall and you’re good to go. This is a great place to hang both necklaces and bracelets, leaving plenty of space in your original jewellery box for rings and earrings.
