Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner officially file for divorce
Actors Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have officially filed for divorce almost two years after the Hollywood A-list couple split, the Los Angeles Times has reported. Irreconcilable differences were cited in the paperwork filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, where Garner filed the divorce petition and Affleck filed his response, the newspaper reported late on Thursday.
Garner and Affleck, both 44, are seeking joint custody of their three children, daughters Violet, 11, and Seraphina, 9; and their son Samuel, 5. Affleck and Garner co-starred in the 2003 superhero film Daredevil and were married in 2005. They announced plans to divorce a day after their 10th wedding anniversary in 2015. — Reuters
Lady Gaga rocks Coachella music festival
Lady Gaga headlined the Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival in California this weekend. She was the first solo female artist to do so in 10 years. Bjork was the woman to be been billed as a headliner on the prestigious musical stage back in 2007.
The festival, which runs until next Saturday includes Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar, who released his hotly anticipated new album on Friday. Some of the female performers include Lorde, Banks, Tove Lo, Kehlani, Nao, Kiiara and Bishop Briggs. Yukimi Nagano, who fronts Swedish band Little Dragon, is returning to Coachella for a third time. — Associated Press
Arrest warrant out for Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt
A court in Mumbai has issued an arrest warrant against Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt over not appearing for a case filed against him by film producer Shakeel Noorani in 2013. Noorani claimed that Dutt had committed to play the lead role in a movie titled Jaan Ki Baazi, but backed out in breach of contract.
He then alleged he had received threatening calls on behalf of Dutt to drop the case. Noorani’s lawyer Neeraj Gupta said: “We had filed this matter in 2013 against Sanjay Dutt because my client was getting underworld threats to drop the case which was filed against the actor.”
Dutt has been in and out of jail over the past two decades following his conviction in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case but last year was finally released as a free man. However, by not appearing for this case, he has a warrant against him.
A statement from Dutt’s spokesperson read: “This case has been going on a long time and the present situation has arisen because of the communication lapse between our lawyers and us. “We respect the urgency shown by the honourable court regarding our attendance and we will take immediate measure to rectify the situation.” - IANS
Shah Rukh Khan a dance teacher now
Shah Rukh Khan has been teaching his signature dance moves to Brett Ratner, the director of the Rush Hour film series as well as the Oscar-winning The Revenant.
The pair who appeared on stage at the San Francisco International Film Festival had a lot of fun and talked about many subjects, including making another Rush Hour film. "One day I want to make a Rush Hour sequel in India with SRK in it," said Ratner.
Later, he posted a video on Instagram where Khan is showing him how to do the "Lungi dance" — a famous song from his blockbuster movie Chennai Express.
Khan can be seen singing the song as well as teaching Ratner some of the steps. "With King Khan doing the Lungi dance during the SFFILM. Inspiring, humble, a great dancer, and smells great too," Ratner wrote. My Name is Khan was also screened as part of the line-up of movies at the festival. — IANS
Amitabh Bachchan shoots cameo alongside Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor
Amitabh Bachchan has been in Delhi shooting a cameo for the Padman movie, which also stars Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor. The film is a real life story about a man who made sanitary pads accessible to women of his village. In a late night blog post on Friday, the veteran actor wrote: "I work tomorrow ... A shoot for R. Balki for the film he does with Akshay Kumar. A special appearance for a few minutes."
Amitabh and Balki have worked together in films like Cheeni Kum, Paa, Shamitabh and he also featured in cameos for the director's other projects English Vinglish and Ki & Ka. Talking about the director, Amitabh wrote: "Balki does carry his sincerity at every step of his creativity, and must have my presence in some form or another, and so here I am." - IANS
