Resident actors will take to stage to bring to life Shakespeare's classic The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, this weekend.

This will be the biggest production by Backstage, a community theatre group in Dubai that is trying to raise funds for the Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre.

The play dramatises the revenge Hamlet exacts on his Uncle Claudius for murdering his father, succeeding to the throne, and taking as his wife Gertrude, the old king's widow and Hamlet's mother. The play will portray both true and feigned madness—from overwhelming grief to seething rage-and explores themes of treachery, revenge and moral corruption.

The production will be staged at the American University in Dubai from November 21 to 23. Show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost Dh100 and are available at www.timeoutitckets.com
