The 6th Gulf Film Festival may have opened with the rather emotional Saudi drama, Wadjda, but this weekend the main focus is on films for children.

Among the dedicated kids film package are nine titles from across the world, including both traditional shorts and animation.

From Colombian filmmaker Giovanni Granada comes a tale that delves into the mind of a 12-year-old (if you’d want to go there) in The Invention, while the acclaimed animation Palmipedarium from Jeremy Clapin involves a boy and some ducks. The animal stories continue with Snap, about an underwater critter and frog, and in Iranian animator Azadeh Moezzi’s touching Me, My Wife and Our Cow.

There’s further animation with Bird Food, by Irish filmmaker Richard Keane, and Dutch director Sandra Welte’s Lift Oft.

The films will be screening as a single package today (Friday) at 2pm and tomorrow at 2.30pm in Grand Cinemas, Dubai Festival City. For more information, visit www.gulffilmfest.com
