Germany's entry for Eurovision this year is currently under investigation for plagiarism.
Pop group Cascada’s entry Glorious has allegedly copied elements of last year's Eurovision Swedish winner Loreen’s hit track Euphoria.
The band and song producers deny the charges with lead singer Natalie Horler claiming both songs are distinctly different.
“If you like, we can superimpose one song on the other. They are two different songs,” she told the German news agency DPA.
Phonetics expert Tina John disagrees however, claiming the song’s beginning are “absolutely identical.”
Speaking to Bild am Sonntag, she describes Glorious’ “chorus uses the same accentuation, the ending peaks with the same combinations. The singers even use the same breathing methods”.
Competition organiser NDR has commissioned an audit of the song with the results to be tabled soon.
Eurovision is broadcasted globally and shall be held on the May 18 in Malmö, Sweden.
