Furious 7 out on DVD next week

Furious 7 will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on August 12 in the UAE. Tyrese Gibson, one of the film's stars, and a regular visitor to the Emirates, returned over the weekend to Abu Dhabi to help promote the release of the smash-hit film, which made more than $1.5 billion (Dh5.5b) at the global cinema box office, and announced that he plans to open a film studio there. The capital was chosen for the four-day press junket after the movie shot extensively there last year at locations including Emirates Palace and Etihad Towers, with the resulting scenes forming a key part of the storyline. Noura Al Kaabi, the chief executive of twofour54, said: "It is with great pleasure that we welcomed back Universal to Abu Dhabi to build on a successful partnership that resulted in one of the highest-grossing movies of all time. Twofour54 has built an infrastructure in Abu Dhabi that is 'production-ready' for even the biggest of projects." Gibson, 36, who was also promoting his new album, Black Rose, said of his film-studio plans: "I also want to do a film slate, at around US$700 million, so when films are being made, instead of us coming to shoot for three or four days, we can shoot in Abu Dhabi for the whole movie. We're going to co-finance these movies, instead of just coming here, shooting and leaving." – The National staff

Drake and Mill row rumbles on

The war of words continues between rappers Meek Mill and Drake. Mill said on Sunday night that a song Drake wrote dissing him was soft – like baby lotion. The comments came at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, where the rapper was opening on tour for his girlfriend, Nicki Minaj. Drake had released the song, Charged Up, over the weekend after Mill claimed Drake did not write all of his own lyrics. Mill told the audience: "I heard that [song], was very soft, baby-lotion soft." Mill said last week that Drake did not write a part of the song R.I.C.O., which appears on his album, Dreams Worth More than Money. – AP

Models Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne are said to be considering a joint reality TV show. "Kendall and Cara both think doing the show would be a blast," an unnamed source told Life & Style magazine. "It's been pitched as The Simple Life for a new generation, except with two of the world's most popular supermodels. They'd be giving the cameras an all-access pass to their fabulous lifestyles, from who they're dating to their careers". – IANS
