One of France biggest hip-hop acts, I Am, said they are not breaking up and are instead looking for a new record deal.
Ever since their 2009 album Galaxie, the Marseille collective have been quiet on the music front, sparking rumours they have quietly called it quits. "That's not the case at all," said the frontman MC Akhenaton, before their Mawazine Festival show on Saturday.
“We have finished our contract and we have been searching for a new deal that would be a better fit for us. We are focusing a lot on live shows at the moment which we are really enjoying.” I Am are one of the French-speaking world’s biggest hip-hop acts and are renowned for blending socially conscious lyrics with Arab-inspired beats.
