This afternoon, The Pavilion in Downtown Dubai is hosting two talks to examine and address the use of social media in the arts and culture scene in the UAE.

At 4pm, Leah Manasseh the founder of My Dubai My City, will be discussing today's social media trends alongside the founder and editor of My Fash Diary Tala Samman and Clive Azavedo, Lavanya Narayan and Kunal Bilakhia who head up the Twitter account @WeAreUAE. The idea is to dissect why certain fields have become immensely popular and why others have failed to maintain a following.

Later on, at 6pm, the discussion session will reflect on the rise of Instagram, focusing on personal Instagram accounts as well as on Instagram campaigns. On this panel is Melina Mitri of S*uce boutique and Elliott Brown, the co-founder of the Dubai based independent brand communication and design agency Moloobhoy & Brown. Blogger and social media manager Saad Naamani will moderate the discussion.

The Social Web will continue at The Pavilion every Saturday until June 15th and the conversation can be followed online.
