If you've driven between Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the past few months, you could not have missed the miles-long hoarding around Palm Jebel Ali where a beefed-up Shah Rukh Khan shares space with a benign Shrek, and Aamir Khan's Lagaan poster sits alongside the Farmer from Legoland.
"Dubai Parks and Resorts" reads a sign. "Opening soon!" October could not come soon enough, for that's when the Dh10.5 billion project, spread across 25 million square feet, will open its truly gargantuan gates.
Ere that, though, the UAE-based management is holding auditions for every conceivable amusement-park persona you can imagine. From celebrity lookalikes, voice-over artists and character actors to singers, musicians and speciality performers such as puppeteers, trampolinists and hip-hop dancers, there's room for all manner of tricks and talent.
Following events in India, Lebanon, Egypt and Morocco, the UAE auditions will be held in Dubai on February 25 and February 26 at the James & Alex Dance Studios in Media City. So if you're a singer who can dance or a dancer who can sing; if you've got a baritone to match Amitabh Bachchan's, a face that can pass off as Kate Beckinsale or a body that can be sculpted to look like a Smurf, register at www.dprauditions.com.
