Black Eyed Peas’s founding member Taboo is to perform at a 12-hour beach party in Ras Al Khaimah.
Also headlining the all-night bash on May 12 is house DJ Juicy M.
Running from 5pm until 5am, the event on Al Marjan Island is tellingly entitled Destination Dawn. Organised by Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), it follows the brand’s launch last May.
Rounding out the bumper runtime are local legends Hollaphonic and Scott Forshaw.
“It’s our intention to ensure Ras Al Khaimah climbs the event charts, whether that’s for music or traditional culture, adventure, extreme or conventional sports,” said RAKTDA CEO Haitham Mattar, pledging plans to attract one million annual visitors to the northern Emirate by 2018.
Ticket holders can catch a free shuttle bus from Dubai’s Manara Centre Parking (Noor Bank Metro Station) on Sheikh Zayed Road, leaving every 20 minutes from 4pm on May 12, returning from Al Marjan Island every 20 minutes from 3am the next morning. Revellers are also welcome to set up tents and camp on the beach.

- Cecelia Crocker was on board Northwest Airlines Flight 255 in 1987 when it crashed in Detroit, killing 154 people, including her parents and brother. The plane had hit a light pole on take off

Ziina users will be able to use the app to help relief efforts in Beirut, which has been left reeling after an August blast caused an estimated $15 billion in damage and left thousands homeless.
