The 36-year-old musician and the 29-year-old model ­announced they are expecting a child, on Instagram this week. Legend and Teigen revealed the news by posting a black-and-white photo of themselves with the caption: "We're pregnant!" Teigen wrote that conceiving a child hasn't been easy for the pair and that they are looking ­forward to growing their family. – AP

Volkswagen scandal movie planned

The Volkswagen diesel-­emissions scandal is still developing, but Hollywood already has its eyes set on a movie about it. Paramount Pictures and Leonardo DiCaprio's production company, Appian Way, have optioned the rights to a book proposal from The New York Times journalist Jack Ewing about the story. The German automaker admitted last month that 11 million of its vehicles worldwide were fitted with "cheating" software that helps it to beat emission tests. VW chief Martin Winterkorn resigned after the scandal broke in the United States. DiCaprio, an active environmentalist, will come on board as a producer. – AP

Vaani Kapoor finally lands new film role

Indian actress Vaani Kapoor will star along with actor Ranveer Singh in Aditya Chopra's directorial comeback, Befikre. It has been two years since Kapoor's first film, Shuddh Desi Romance, was released. The announcement was made in a three-­minute video, in which she says: "After winning most of the promising awards [for Shuddh Desi Romance], I somehow expected offers to flood in. Clearly, things didn't fall into place. In that time, Adi [Aditya] met me and shared his undoubted belief in my potential." When she learnt she had won the role, Kapoor says: "I had no idea whether to start jumping, start crying or keep myself composed. I don't even think it has sunk in yet. I am glad that my faith in myself and his faith in me got me my dream." – IANS

Singer Phil Collins to write autobiography

Singer and occasional actor Phil Collins is busy writing his autobiography. The former Genesis drummer and solo star is one of pop music's best-­selling artists. He said he has been asked several times to write a memoir, "but never felt that the time was right – until now". The seven-time Grammy Award winner promised to tell his life story "warts and all". The book will be published in October next year. – AP

Ed Sheeran sets a new record on Spotify

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran's ballad Thinking Out Loud is the first song to be streamed half a billion times on Spotify. The streaming site estimated that one in four Spotify users has a Sheeran song in their ­playlists. Spotify says Sheeran is especially strong in English-­speaking countries and Scandinavia, with Denmark streaming his music most frequently. Sheeran has had 2.9 billion streams on Spotify in total for all his songs, second only to Eminem. – AFP

Nando’s tribute to hip-hop star Two Tone

Nando's has teamed up with hip-hop artist Two Tone for a limited-edition wrap that will be launched in stores across the UAE next week. The Two Tone Nando's wrap will combine a grilled chicken breast with goat's cheese, onions, grilled corn, snow peas, lettuce, Nando's red pepper dip and their garlic and herb sauce. The wrap will be launched in Nando's Palm Jumeirah store next Tuesday and be available until October 31. Part of the proceeds will go to the charity Dubai Cares. – The National staff

Actress Pooja Misrra accused of 'pulling gun on shop staff'

Indian model and TV actress Pooja Misrra has been accused of assaulting the staff in a shop in New Delhi. Police said the Bigg Boss season-five contestant was caught on camera assaulting staff in Karol Bagh in west Delhi on Sunday night. A police source said: "The model not only manhandled the staff, but took out a pistol and threatened to shoot them. We have recovered the CCTV footage of the incident. The matter is being probed." The official said the model lost her temper after an argument with a customer. – IANS
