Theatre lovers in Abu Dhabi will be served up a taster of 10-minute plays during the first Short+Sweet Festival at Abu Dhabi Theatre this autumn. The Short+Sweet Festival is an annual event in Dubai, where local playwrights and home-grown drama groups stage short plays.

But before the Abu Dhabi debut, organisers Constellation Dubai will take drama enthusiasts through a day of activities and workshops starting at 11am on May 30. The events will include an acting class led by Short+Sweet Dubai festival director Liz Hadaway and a scriptwriting workshop by the Australian playwright Alex Broun.

These will be followed by a special show at 7.30pm, featuring seven of the best plays from the Shorter+Sweeter Festival that was staged in Dubai earlier this month.

Shorter+Sweeter will head to Italy at the end of the month, followed by a tour of the GCC and New York.

• Workshops will be held at Abu Dhabi Theatre on May 30. General admission tickets are Dh100. An all-day pass, which grants access to the acting and playwriting workshops plus the theatre show, costs Dh220 at tickets.virginmegastore.me
