Abu Dhabi book fair: French pavilion to host workshops and author sessions

The French pavilion at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair will be hosting workshops for children, book singing sessions and lectures by famous authors from May 7.

In their seventh year at ADIBF, Institut Français in the United Arab Emirates, Alliance Française of Abu Dhabi and BIEF (Agency to promote French publishing abroad) Culture & Co and Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi have organised several activities for schools visiting the week-long festival.

Authors attending the fair include Egyptian Sonallah Ibrahim, whose first novel The Smell of It was banned in Egypt when it was first published in 1966. The French translation of his latest work Ice was released in February this year.

Moroccan writer and critic Mohammed Berrada, who has written short stories, novels and literary criticism, will also be present.

Claire Ubac from Paris wrote her first novel Le Fruit du dragon in 2003, which deals with the discovery of oneself. Her latest novel, Le chemin de Sarasvati, is dedicated to music and the India. She will host writing workshops for children and adults.
