Stan Lee
The veteran Marvel Comics veteran – the co-creator of Spider-Man, Iron Man, X-Men, The Hulk, Fantastic Four and many more – returns to MEFCC for a second video Q&A on the main stage, after a similar appearance at the 2014 event. Although the 93-year-old can’t be there in person, his participation is still quite a coup, and organisers say that all ticket holders can enter a prize draw to win a trip to Los Angeles, where they will meet Lee and walk the red carpet with him at the premiere of Captain America: Civil War next month.
Fabian Niceza
The renowned writer and editor is the co-creator (with artist Rob Liefeld) of superhero-of-the-moment Deadpool, the title character in Ryan Reynold’s smash-hit movie, which is still in cinemas following its record-breaking February opening. Niceza has more than 1,000 comic-book writing credits to his name, including Marvel and DC favourites X-Men, The New Mutants, Batman and Superman, which have sold more than 200 million issues.
Kevin Eastman
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator self-published the early adventures of the “Heroes in a Half Shell” with Peter Laird in 1984. The first issue’s initial print run of 3,000 copies sold out instantly – and the rest is history. Toy licensing, TV cartoons and movie deals followed – and more than 30 years later the reptilian warriors still capture our imagination. The next movie adaptation, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, a sequel to the 2014 big-screen reboot, is due for release in June.
