TikTok is launching its first television app on Samsung smart TVs. This means that anyone who owns a Samsung smart TV will be able to load the app on to their television and scroll through numerous videos, just as they do on their smartphones.

Currently, the TV app will be available for anyone who owns a Samsung TV in Europe, where it has already rolled out in the UK. Anyone with a television model from 2018 onwards will be able to access it.

The TikTok TV app will be specifically geared for a home-viewing experience. It will display videos from a user’s feed in a strip across the top with videos in different categories to check out.

According to the release from Samsung, users will also be able to view and comment on videos or block and mark content that they are not interested in.

This will be the first foray into television for the video content-sharing platform. Earlier in December, TikTok also announced it was considering extending the maximum length of video time from 60 seconds to three minutes, which would make for a more suitable TV experience.

TikTok is a Chinese video-sharing social media platform where users can create short-form videos and share with viewers. There are an estimated 800 million monthly active users.
