Adam Sandler returned to host Saturday Night Live at the weekend with a song parodying his departure from the show two decades ago.
Hosting SNL for the first time since he was fired from the show in 1995, the comedian opened his act by telling the audience that his time on the show was the "best time of my life."
He then burst into song saying:
"I was fired. I was fired, it was so sad to tell.”
The song continued: "I guess NBC got tired of Crazy Spoonhead and the songs I sang on the news. Maybe they were sick of Canteen Boy, but I think they just hate the Jews … NBC said I was done, then I made over $4 billion at the box office, so I guess you could say I won."
Fellow comedian Chris Rock, who was sacked from the show in 1993, also joined Sandler on stage singing "I got fired. I was fired. I was fired by NBC. Then I went on In Living Color, three weeks later they took it off TV."
Sandler also made a solo performance paying tribute to his late friend and another SNL alumnus Chris Farley. The comedian died in 1997 from an accidental overdose of cocaine and morphine. He was 33 years old.
Sandler dealt with Farley's heavy drinking and how he wasn't worried when friends warned him he'd end up like John Belushi and John Candy.
"He said 'Those guys are my heroes, that's all fine and dandy,'" Sandler sang. "And when they ask me who's the funniest guy I ever knew, I tell them hands down, without a doubt, it's you."
