Prince Andrew, Duke of York, visits Louvre Abu Dhabi

Britain’s Prince Andrew is the latest senior official to visit Louvre Abu Dhabi.

Britain’s Prince Andrew, Duke of York is the latest senior official to visit Louvre Abu Dhabi. The duke and his daughter Princess Beatrice joined Aleksandar Vučić, president of Serbia; Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Juan Carlos I, the former King of Spain and Yousef Al Otaiba, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the United States, and Mary McAleese, former President of Ireland.

Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Department of Culture & Tourism and Manuel Rabaté, director of Louvre Abu Dhabi  were among those who escorted the officials on their tours of the Louvre.

Since its opening on November 11, Louvre Abu Dhabi has welcomed many dignitaries from around the world. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, have shown a number of leaders the first museum to bear the Louvre name outside of France. French president Emmanuel Macron was joined by others such as King Mohammed VI of Morocco, Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the presidents of Colombia and Nepal at the opening.

“[The Louvre] symbolises our ability to build bridges of communication, in a world that they want it to be a scene for clash of civilisations. It also reflects our ability to fight darkness with light, ignorance with arts, apathy with creativity, extremism with artistic beauty, created by human minds thousands years ago,” Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said at the event’s opening.
