The Abu Dhabi gallery N2N, which opened in May last year at Emirates Palace, now has a second branch in the capital at Nation Towers Galleria on the Corniche.

The new space, which will display realist and modernist art from Ukraine, Hungary and Poland in a variety of media, opened on Sunday with The Waves of Warm Memories, a solo exhibition of Impressionist paintings by the Ukrainian artist Volodymyr Reshetov, whose work is displayed at the National Art Museum of Ukraine.

Reshetov graduated in 1957 from the Kiev Academy of Fine Arts and began his career as a book and magazine illustrator. He created propaganda posters, advertisements and satirical works as well as countless cinema posters of the Soviet era.

Later in his life, Reshetov found his true calling in Impressionist landscape painting and would regularly travel to Crimea where he found much of his inspiration. He was particularly at home in the element of water. He was fascinated by the beach, and created several scenes of sunbathers, swimmers and seascapes. Now, at the age of 84, Reshetov no longer paints but the exhibition goes a long way to celebrate his career.

The Waves of Warm Memories runs until December 15 at N2N Gallery, 1st floor, Nation Towers Galleria, The Corniche, Abu Dhabi, www.nrn-gallery.com
