Momoland have arrived. Just a year ago to the day, the popular K-pop girl group released Bboom Bboom from their third EP titled Great!. The song would go on to become a breakthrough hit and went platinum in South Korea after reaching more than 100 million streams.

Now they’ll kick off 2019 with another milestone by making their Middle East debut as they perform at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium on Friday.

It seems the group were able to fly comfortably as they uploaded an image onto Instagram showing they were put into business class on their Emirates flight.

The nine-member group landed at Dubai International Airport at 5am on Thursday morning and were greeted by their fans (known as Merries) through the terminal after their landing.

Merry Go Round UAE, a fan group set up in September last year, said around 20-30 other people showed up to greet the band. They were also able to give a special gift to one member of the group, Nancy.

Who are they?

Momoland began in 2016 after seven members were selected as part of the reality show Finding Momoland. They released their crowdfunded debut EP Welcome to Momoland in 2016. Just a year later, two more members were added to complete the lineup.

The music video for Bboom Bboom surpassed 300 million views on YouTube on December 30 last year. After their Dubai concert, the girls will head to the Philippines, Vietnam, South America and the United States as part of a world tour.

This performance comes after a big K-pop concert event last April which saw artists from SM Entertainment such as Exo, BoA, Super Junior, SHINee and Red Velvet perform in Dubai.
