Little did Omar Shafey, who was enjoying a day at the beach after an epic night at the Rolling Stones concert, expect to run into one of his heroes from the show.

During a game of frisbee after a swim Shafey was shocked to see Ronnie Wood, the Stones' bass guitarist, and his wife Sally Humphries walking on Saadiyat Beach after a swim.

Wood who was staying at the Park Hyatt, Abu Dhabi, was happy to stop and chat with Shafey and two of his friends, who had flown over from San Francisco for the Abu Dhabi launch of the 14 on Fire tour.

Wood thanked the three fans for their compliments and told them he was off “to the big office, the Tokyo Dome!” later that night.

“Bumping into him was like a dream come true,” said Shafey, who told the legendary musician: “You are the soundtrack of my life, buddy.”

The Rolling Stones performed at a packed out du Arena on Friday, 21 February.
