Reggaeton star J Balvin confirmed as second Abu Dhabi Showdown Week headliner

He joins the Red Hot Chili Peppers to perform at the inaugural fight and fitness festival

Reggaeton star J Balvin has been confirmed as the second headline act for the inaugural Abu Dhabi Showdown Week next month.

The Colombian singer will join the Red Hot Chili Peppers to perform at the seven-day fight and fitness festival, which is set to run from Sunday, September 1 to Saturday, September 7.

Known as reggaeton's global ambassador, J Balvin has collaborated with the likes of Cardi B on I Like It, while Beyonce featured on a remix of his hit track Mi Gente back in 2017.

Balvin will make his UAE debut when he plays The Arena, Yas Island's brand new indoor venue, on Thursday, September 5.

"Abu Dhabi embodies diversity and boasts an eclectic mix of cultures and musical tastes, and J Balvin fits perfectly into this ethos, bringing something very different to Abu Dhabi Showdown Week," said Saeed Al Saeed, destination marketing director at DCT Abu Dhabi. "This addition to the concert series emphasises our desire to create a programme that appeals to as many fans as possible and engages with the entire community.”

A special early bird sale for Balvin’s concert starts on Monday, August 19 from 12pm.

The two-night series is just one element of a city-wide programme of events planned for Abu Dhabi Showdown Week. There will also be a series of pool and beach parties, as well as culinary and retail promotions. The week will also coincide with Abu Dhabi Sports & Fitness Expo, which will run from Thursday, September 5 to Saturday, September 7 at du Forum, Yas Island.
