The Filipina pop-star and Glee actress Charice is coming to Dubai for a one-off performance in March.

The 19-year-old singing sensation is due to play in Festival Park at Dubai Festival City on March 2 as part of her an Asian tour supporting her latest album, Infinity.

Charice's star has been on the rise since she was first discovered in a South Korean talent show in 2007. Her performance was spotted by none other than the US comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres who then flew her over to appear on her program; offers for appearances from Oprah and other US programs soon followed.

Her impressive voice also gained her appreciation from musical luminaries including Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion; both invited her for live duet performances respectively.

It was after her 2009 move to the US that she achieved a world-wide following.

After numerous high profile musical slots, including singing The Star-Spangled Banner in front of 57,000 baseball fans at Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium, Charice received her biggest break when she was offered the role of foreign exchange student Sunshine Corazon during the second season of hit television series Glee.

The programme's format meant each week she covered current pop songs and it influenced her to move away from the adult contemporary musical genre and embrace more pop and RnB styles.

Released in October last year, Infinity is Charice's second international recording, and boasts songwriting credits from Bruno Mars and Nick Jonas.

Dubai is part of a seven-city Asian tour for the singer, including Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and a home-town performance at Manila's Araneta Coliseum, the scene of the famed Thrilla in Manila boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.
