They rose to fame in the 1990s, but 2019 will mark the first time that Boyz II Men have performed in the UAE.

The R&B boy band, known for hits such as ultimate break-up song End of the Road and the Mariah Carey duet One Sweet Day, will take to the stage at the Coca-Cola Arena next month.

The trio, who specialise in romantic ballads and a cappella numbers, will perform at the City Walk venue on Thursday, December 19. Tickets, which cost from Dh200, will go on sale today at midday.

The American group, comprised of Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman, released their first album in 1991, and scored their first Grammy Award in 1992 for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

The band, who have sold a whopping 64 million records throughout their decades-long career, were originally a quartet, but Michael McCary left in 2003 due to health issues.

The 1992 track End of the Road became Boyz II Men's first number one single, and stayed at the top of the Billboard Top 100 for a then-record-setting 13 weeks, an achievement the band themselves broke with I'll Make Love to You.

Boyz II Men released their latest album, Under the Streetlight, in 2017, and currently have four Grammy Awards to their name.

They're the latest in a string of music starts announced to perform in the UAE in recent days, with Ne-Yo and Usher due to hit the stage in Abu Dhabi this weekend, and Scottish chart-topper Lewis Capaldi coming to Sharjah's Al Majaz Amphitheatre on Friday, January 17.
