After a seven-year hiatus, American R&B and soul singer Al Green has announced he'll return to touring with a brief five-day stint that kicks off on April 4.
It'll all begin at Bass Concert Hall in Austin, Texas, before he moves on to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he'll perform at the annual Jazz and Heritage Festival, hitting Houston, Texas, ahead of wrapping up on May 3 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Green, who is best known for songs such as 1972's Let's Stay Together, has not released an album since 2008's Lay It Down, but in September last year he dropped his first single in 10 years. It was his version of Before the Next Teardrop Falls, which has also been covered by the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis and Freddy Fender.
Green originally started out as a gospel singer, and in 1995 was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. "The silky vocals of Al Green are made from rugged soul meets Motown polish," it says on his Hall of Fame biography.
"The raw power of his voice has carried him from decade to decade and genre to genre in a career that remains robust to this day." A bit of foresight there that remains just as relevant today.
