Abu Dhabi Classics has announced the trombone ensemble from one of the world's leading orchestras is lined up to play in the UAE.
With new classics season starting on Thursday and Friday with performances by the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, it will be followed up on November 9 with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra’s Trombone Trio making an appearance at Al Hamooda Fort in Al Ain.
The orchestra, from Amsterdam in the Netherlands, is consistently hailed as one of the best in the world so the group arrives in Abu Dhabi with serious pedigree.
For those looking for a fuller orchestral sound, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra will perform at Al Jahili Fort in Al Ain on Thursday and then at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi on Friday. The orchestra is celebrating its 211th anniversary this year and will play pieces from the Romantic era with the lauded North American pianist Nicholas Angelich as the guest performer.
The programme will include full-blown symphonic pieces such as Beethoven's 4th Symphony (1809) and Rossini's Overture to his grand opera Guillaume Tell (1829), alongside the more delicate offering of Rachmaninoff's Concerto No.2 (1900-1901).
