Mohammed Assaf, the winner of Arab Idol in 2013 has been voted the Best Middle East Act at the 2014 MTV European Music Awards (EMA). Assaf released his debut album ASSAF last week.
The 2014 MTV EMA will be broadcast live from Glasgow to more than 60 MTV channels around the world on Sunday, November 9 at 9pm CET and in the UAE on November 10 at 1am KSA. The awards show has a global reach of nearly 700 million households.
Assaf beat out fellow nominees Jana, Cairokee, Saad Lamjarred and Imar Bassad for the Best Middle East Act honour. Along with the title, Assaf has now earned an opportunity to be voted into the Worldwide Act category. Fans around the globe can vote for the Worldwide Act starting today from 12pm CET. Voting will close on Wednesday, October 29 at 11:59pm CET. The final list of the 10 Worldwide Act nominees will be announced Thursday, October 30 on mtvema.com.
This year’s 2014 MTV EMA will be hosted by American hip-hop star Nicki Minaj. British rock star Ozzy Osbourne will also be in attendance to receive the Global Icon Award.
Fans can vote for their favourite artists in all other categories through November 8 at mtvema.com. Voting closes at 11:59pm CET.
