Review of Ninja: Shadow of a Tear
Ninja: Shadow of A Tear
Director: Isaac Florentine
Starring: Scott Adkins, Kane Kosugi, Mika Hijii, Shun Sugata.
The Expendables 2 actor Scott Adkins returns in this martial arts sequel to 2009’s Ninja. He plays Casey, a man bent on revenge after the murder of his pregnant wife. The man-on-a-mission story is basic, and the script is at times laughable, yet both of these negatives are muted somewhat by the very impressive action sequences. The fights (and there are plenty of them) are fast, furious and well choreographed, making for incredibly entertaining viewing. Adkins, so often a supporting player in bigger movies, may not have a lot to work with, but he does have presence, taking full advantage of the spotlight he is given. If you can forgive the narrative scenes, there is plenty here for fans of old fashioned, one-man-army action movies.
