Film’s most celebrated and glamorous award ceremony is a matter of days away. The 92nd Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 9, but due to time difference, the ceremony will screen in the early hours of Monday, February 10, in the UAE.

The 2020 Oscars will be held without a traditional host for the second year running. But don't let that deter you from watching it. The 2019 Oscars was the first in 30 years to have no host and saw audience numbers rise by 11 per cent, breaking a four-year trend of falling viewership. Organisers have planned on repeating what worked for them last year. We've been promised "huge entertainment value, big musical numbers, [and] big comedy." Yesterday, Grammy Award winner Billie Eilish was announced as a performer at the show.

What time will the ceremony be showing in the UAE?

The bad news for us in the region is that, while the red carpet coverage starts at 5pm Pacific Time (PT) in the US, we'll be crawling out of bed at 5am. So, if you want to catch the stars as they arrive to the ceremony, showing off their suits and gowns to photographers, you'll have to set an early alarm.

Where to watch the Oscars

OSN have you covered. The network will grant exclusive coverage of the red carpet action and the ceremony itself on OSN Movies in HD. The coverage will run from 5am as the most punctual stars arrive at the ceremony until the very last winner is announced.

If you're a film buff and want to watch the Oscar-nominated films before the statues are handed out, you can do so in crisp HD on OSN On Demand or in various cinemas around the UAE.

You can watch the Oscars in the cinema

If you don't have OSN but want to make sure you watch the ceremony, you can head to Vox Cinema at the Mall of The Emirates. OSN has teamed up with Vox to bring the ceremony to the big screen. And to make the early morning alarm a little sweeter,  the screening is free but you will need to book your seats in advance.
