Hulk Hogan biopic: Chris Hemsworth says 'yes, brother' to portraying wrestler

The Thor actor will be 'taking his vitamins' to star as larger-than-life '80s character

Thor actor Chris Hemsworth will be donning the famous yellow and red lycra and slapping on the baby oil after agreeing to portray iconic 80s and 90s wrestler Hulk Hogan in an upcoming biopic.

The movie about the larger than life entertainer will be directed by Todd Phillips, whose previous work includes the Hangover trilogy and the upcoming Joker film.

Writer Scott Silver is set to pen the script for the film. His previous credits include The Fighter and 8 Mile.

Hulk Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, rose to prominence in the 1980s when his wrestling character took the United States and the wrestling world by storm.

His popularity and image was further driven by merchandising and films.

In recent times though, the Hulkster’s image has been tarnished by racial and sex tape controversies.

Australian actor Hemsworth, the man set to run wild with Hulkamania, has enjoyed success in Hollywood with the Marvel franchise and his rivalry with fellow Avenger the Incredible Hulk - the character that inspired Hogan's gimmick.

You can look forward to seeing Hemsworth this year in Men in Black: International and Avengers: Endgame.

Hemsworth will have time to "say his prayers and take his vitamins", though, as The Hulk Hogan is yet to have a release date yet.
