The great and good of Bollywood have flocked to Alibaug, India, for the wedding of actor Varun Dhawan.

Festivities kicked off over the weekend ahead of the ceremony, reportedly set to take place on Sunday.

Dhawan and fiancee Natasha Dalal arrived in the coastal town last week to prepare for the nuptials alongside their families.

While details of the wedding itself have been kept largely under wraps, with celebrations scaled back because of the coronavirus pandemic, the celebrity guest list is said to include Shah Rukh Khan, Raj Kundra, Remo D'Souza, Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, and Arjun and Janhvi Kapoor.

Over the weekend, the couple, along with their 50 guests, enjoyed the traditional mehendi function, as well as the sangeet night. Mehendi artist Veena Nagda was pictured outside the mansion venue, reportedly owned by Shah Rukh Khan, alongside members of her team.

A photo offering the first glimpse of the groom also made its way onto Instagram, showing the Street Dancer 3D star smiling alongside his friends and family, dressed in traditional gold attire.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the ceremony, the groom’s uncle, Anil Dhawan, said: "We are very excited. This is the last marriage in our family from Varun’s generation. Rohit [Dhawan, Varun’s brother] got married, my children got married and my elder brother's kids are also married. This will be a complete circle."

Dhawan and Dalal first met in school, but did not become a couple until they met again many years later. While they have rarely spoken publicly about their relationship, they have been pictured together on many occasions.

They were reportedly set to tie the knot in 2020, but pushed back their plans because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The wedding is set to take place at 12.30pm local time, reports suggest.
