WWE’s new era on Netflix has made it easier than ever for fans to watch its programming.
Early Sunday morning, wrestling fans with access to the streaming platform in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Egypt, could watch the Royal Rumble live or catch a rebroadcast.
However, the event ran for about four and a half hours, so if you’re short on time, here are some of the top highlights.
Spoilers are below.
John Cena’s final Royal Rumble entrance
Previously announcing his retirement, the 16-time world champion said he would hang up his laces in 2025, putting an end to his 25-year-long celebrated career as a wrestler.
Coming into the Men’s Royal Rumble as entrant No 23, Cena was greeted with a loud cheer from the 70,000-plus crowd at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Although he didn't win, it was still a memorable moment for a wrestler who has helped create so many unforgettable moments throughout his career.
Returns
Former WWE women’s champions Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, who both last appeared in 2023, made their return for the Women’s Royal Rumble match. Bliss made her first return in two years after also having a baby, while Flair suffered a major knee injury in December 2023 that sidelined her for more than a year.
Although it was announced Flair would be in the Women's Royal Rumble, Bliss's return was a complete surprise. Meanwhile, AJ Styles – who hadn’t been seen on television since suffering a foot injury in October – also made his comeback at the Men's Royal Rumble, although he fell short of winning it.
Surprise entrants
The Royal Rumble is known for its surprise entrants, and this year was no exception. TNA champion Joe Hendry made his Royal Rumble debut to cheering fans who sang along to his viral theme music, while streamer IShowSpeed also entered at No 8 – although he didn't have a very good time as he was speared quickly by Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker before getting tossed out and eliminated.
Meanwhile, WWE Hall of Famers Trish Stratus and Nikki Bella made a showing in the Women's Royal Rumble, as entrants No 25 and No 23, respectively. Although retiring from being full-time wrestlers, both women had strong showings as they turned back the clock during the event.
