Dozens hurt at Snoop Dogg concert
More than 40 concertgoers were injured when a railing collapsed at a theatre where rapper Snoop Dogg was performing in Camden, in the US state of New Jersey. One person suffered “serious” injuries and was in stable condition at a local hospital, according to Dan Keashen, a spokesman for Camden County. Others suffered broken bones and various minor injuries. The railing, near the stage at the BB&T Pavilion, collapsed at about 10pm, in the middle of the concert featuring Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, causing the show to be stopped. Video posted on social media showed it falling forward under the weight of dozens of people, sending them crashing about 10 feet to the concrete below. – Reuters
Shannen Doherty talks about pain of cancer battle
Actress Shannen Doherty has spoken about how the chemotherapy treatment she is undergoing is taking a toll. She told Entertainment Tonight that her first chemo session left her husband in tears. The former 90210 star last year revealed that she had been battling breast cancer since March 2015. The actress said her husband has been by her side, right from the start when she couldn't eat or drink after her sessions. She also said that she publicly announced her struggle for her own good. Ajay Devgn takes on new role as KFC’s Hope ambassador
KFC India has announced a partnership with Bollywood actor and producer Ajay Devgan for its Hope initiative. The fast-food company aims to raise funds to provide meals for underprivileged children in the country. KFC India, along with beneficiaries including the World Food Program and India Food Banking Network, hopes to provide 20 million meals to underprivileged children by 2020. Devgan will help to guide and support the campaign as it fights hunger across India. He said that being associated as an ambassador for the cause is one of the most challenging roles he has taken on, but he hopes to help tackle the complex problem head on by raising awareness about hunger. The father-of-two added that people can help provide meals for the needy children by donating as little as Rs5. – IANS
Freaky Ali due in cinemas next month
Director Sohail Khan's upcoming golf-themed film Freaky Ali, which features acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, will hit cinema screens in India on September 9. Khan's brother, superstar Salman Khan, shared the first look at the film on Twitter on Saturday. "The Freak Nawaz, poor man in the rich man sports who became the game changer 'Freaky Ali'," he tweeted. Actor-director Sohail Khan, 46, made his directorial debut with the 1997 action thriller Auzaar, which starred his brother and Sanjay Kapoor. He then directed both of his brothers, Salman and Arbaaz, in the hit film Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya and Hello Brother. His most recent film was Jai Ho in 2014. – IANS
Rihanna to launch ‘new look’ for Puma
Pop star Rihanna is set to launch a “new look” for sportswear brand Puma. The 28-year-old singer-songwriter, who was announced as creative director of the company in December 2014, has revealed she is launching a new addition to the fur slider footwear line, which is a part of her Fenty x Puma collection. Rihanna announced the news on her Instagram account with a photograph of the upcoming product. Alongside the social-media post, she wrote: “New look for the #FURSLIDE out tomorrow! Get the GREY plus the pink, black, and white are back in stock!#FENTYXPUMA.” The range will be the fifth collection from the brand, four months after the launch of the open-toe faux-fur design in April. – The National Staff
