Corporate lawyer and fitness enthusiast Maryam Fattahi Salaam is behind the launch of popular barre-based workout Physique 57. The Emirati opened her original studio in Dubai in 2013, and was one of the first companies to set up business at City Walk.

“City Walk appealed to me right from the start. The outdoor element, urban feel and luxury touch made the decision an easy one,” she says.

It also evokes happy memories of past travels. “I love City Walk’s laid-back vibe. Being there reminds me of the outdoor malls in Los Angeles where I used to spend my childhood summers.”

Salaam believes that the community aspect adds even more value to what’s already a popular retail and leisure destination.

“It is a wonderful community nestled in the heart of Dubai’s older, sought-after residential Jumeirah neighbourhood. What makes City Walk different from other areas in Dubai is its meticulous integration of lifestyle, wellness and hospitality in one sophisticated venue,” she explains.

“We’ve witnessed this first-hand at Physique 57, where clients from various walks and backgrounds come together and forge strong friendships.”

Her favourite venues include The Brass Coffee & Community. “On days when I work at our City Walk studio, I first pop by The Brass for my morning iced latte. For lunch, and after doing a class, I usually choose Paul – I like to pick up a salad. Given my busy schedule, I tend to eat at my desk, and having Paul so close by is great.”

She says that City Walk’s accessible location and overall convenience are a major advantage for anyone working in the area. “It also helps that everything from a supermarket and pharmacy to nice restaurants are available in a single location.”
