Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, is set to become a published author, as she reportedly starts work on her first children's book, which is believed to be about her pet rescue dogs. It is not thought that the book will discuss her new life as a royal.
A royal source told British newspaper, The Sun, "Meghan is going to become a published author and is very excited about it. She loves animals and her rescue dogs so it's very likely they will be incorporated into the story.
"Any book will absolutely not be some sort of tell-all about her life in the royal family."
Before the duchess closed all of her social media accounts, following the announcement that she was engaged to marry Prince Harry in 2017, Markle's dogs were regularly featured on her Instagram.
It is known that she has at least two dogs, both rescues, Guy and Bogart, a beagle and a mix. It is also thought that she and Prince Harry have adopted a black Labrador in England and they want another dog for son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Although this would be Markle's first book, there is already a children's book that has been written on behalf of Guy called, His Royal Dogness, Guy the Beagle: The Rebarkable True Story of Meghan Markle's Rescue Dog, by Camille March and Michael Brumm.
It has been speculated that, like the proceeds of her upcoming fashion collaboration with Marks & Spencer, any proceeds would be donated to charity.
The move to pen a children's book follows in the footsteps of her father-in-law, Prince Charles, who wrote The Old Man of Lochnagar in 1980.
Unlike Markle's anticipated story, Prince Charles' book did relate to royal life as it was set around the British royal family's home in Scotland, Balmoral. According to the publisher, Puffin Books, it is "the adventure of an old man who lives in a cave by the Loch of Lochnagar. It is filled with such characters as a grouse who repels visitors, underwater haggis who revolve as they swim, the miniature green people of Gorm, and the birds and fishes who live in the skies and lochs around Balmoral."
