Al Ain Book Fair, which is focusing on Emirati authors this year, has announced its list of seminars and speakers.

As well as showcasing literature, the fair - which runs until October 2 - will have an accompanying cultural component including hosted discussions with intellectuals, writers and journalists. These include:

Dr Ahmed Al Imam, a Behavioural and Mental Therapy Consultant at Claude Bernard University in France will give a talk on simple methods of personality building and developing cognitive abilities

Ibrahim Ustadi, an Emirati media professional, will discuss writing books and how to make yourself the creator of your own success. Ustadi recently won the Al Owais Cultural Award for Best Local Cultural Radio Programme for his Listen to What We Read programme on Dubai Radio.

Traditional beliefs between reality and fiction

This seminar will focus on a discussion of the book Traditional Beliefs in the United Arab Emirates by Ibrahim Al Hashimi and Dr Aisha Bilkhair.

Dr Aisha Bilkhair, a graduate of the Fulbright Scholar Program who worked as a researcher and visiting lecturer at Harvard University, will discuss the variegated traditional beliefs and customs of the UAE, 245 of which are discussed in the book.
