The shortlisted artists for this year’s International Emerging Artist Award have been announced. There are four categories this year and the award ceremonies will take place over the course of a month in three different countries.
The first, in March will be in Dubai at The Beach, where the eight winners of the Immerse Outdoor Art Award will be announced. This will focus on street art and interactive installations and there will be an accompanying exhibition from March 14-31.
The winners of the grand prize, the International Emerging Artist Award and the Emerging Emirati Artist Award will be unveiled at World Art Dubai, taking place between April 6-9 at the World Trade Centre. This year, the art has been further divided into seven categories and judges have chosen from over 350 shortlisted artists from 80 different countries. The winners will have their work showcased at the event, which is now in its second year.
For those designers there is a section called Artist Edition Award. For this the German design duo Biegert & Funk who own a clock company QLOCKTWO will award one Emirati and one international artist the chance to make one of their watch covers, a year commercial contract and a trip to Germany.
The ceremonies will end in Brussels in May. For the Gallery Show Award, 30 artists including 10 Emiratis will be selected for an exclusive winners’ show at TAG bxl gallery in the Belgian capital.
