To mark International Museum’s Day (May 18), the Talking Art Series on Saadiyat Island, the site of the forthcoming Louvre Abu Dhabi, will be hosting a panel discussion with Jean-Luc Martinez, President-Director of Musée du Louvre and prominent Algerian novelist Waciny Laredji.
On Wednesday, the discussion titled Universal Museums: From Enlightenment to Abu Dhabi will discuss the history of the Humanist concept of universality through museums. This talk will explore a Greek sphinx from Louvre Abu Dhabi's collection in its historical context and representation, which reflects cross civilisations and a strong evidence of the human cultural exchange that goes beyond geography and borders.
It will be followed by performance by renowned singer Jahida Wehbe.
* Universal Museums: From Enlightment to Abu Dhabi will be taking place on Wednesday 21 May at 6.30pm at Manarat Al Saadiyat. Admission is free
