Rula Halawani presents fading childhood memories of Palestine at Ayyam Gallery

The Palestinian artist Rula Halawani will present a series of untitled photographs that detail the Israeli occupation of Palestine– from the vantage point of fading recollections – in her show For My Father . In remembrance of her late father, Halawani’s latest body of work revisits several places in Palestine that shaped her childhood memories, including rolling hills, the seashore, and neighbourhoods. In a letter to her father that accompanies the images, Halawani expresses her disbelief and sadness at the disappearance of settings that were integral to her family experiences.
