The exhibition Passion and Sorrow, at Lamiatos Gallery in DIFC, features nine artists from the UAE, Syria, Bahrain and Iraq. The works feature the theme of the passion for art as it exists alongside the sorrow that prevails in life.
Abdul Qader Al Rais is one of the UAE’s most celebrated artists. He shares his works known for their colourful and vibrant brushstrokes. Najat Makki, also an Emirati artist, is renowned across the GCC. The Bahraini artist Jamal Abdulrahim presents works influenced by religion, philosophy, culture and civilisation. Edward Shahda of Syria has displayed his works in galleries around the world. Ismail Al Rifai, also of Syria, uses an expressive style of art. Basem Al Sayer is a sculptor from Syria who works as a lecturer at an art school Sharjah. Loai Salahaldin of Syria is a fine artist who has presented his works in Syria and the UAE. The Iraqi artist Wael Al Murib, who has a degree in economics, has presented works at a number of exhibitions in Europe and the Middle East.
