A.i.R. Dubai – Artists-in-Residency in Dubai – is one of the best contemporary art programs in the UAE.

Every year about five artists are selected by an international jury to receive studio space, research material and – most importantly – mentoring in Dubai.

They then create artworks that are shown during Art Dubai – an incredible opportunity for them as the art fair attracts major international curators, museum directors, gallerists and artists to the region.

This year’s chosen artists are Montreal-born, Sharjah-based Palestinian artist Areej Kaoud; Emirati artist Moza Almatrooshi; Emirati artist and musician Jumairy; London-based Algerian artist Lydia Ourahmane; and the artist collective E-studio Luanda from Angola.

They will work together with this year’s programme curator, Yasmina Reggad, and the partners on the AiR programme – including the London-based Delfina Foundation, an international residency programme that just celebrated its 25th anniversary – to produce their work.

It’s a stellar process of both nurturing and exposure. We will see the results of the two-year programme during Artweek in March 2016.
