Dubai International Financial Centre has announced the next edition of Art Nights set to take place on Wednesday, 23 November from 7pm onwards. The event is where the galleries co-ordinate openings and events and there is usually food and entertainment provided by local outlets. It is a fun way to go and experience the art and certainly worth putting in your diary.
One exhibition not to miss is at Ayyam Gallery. Farzad Kohan records the experiences of migrants who have resettled in the United States or Europe, mostly from the Middle East. Detailing their stories with text-based paintings that are written in American typewriter font, the artist adopts the role of a documentarian. This is also suggested with the vertical folded canvases of the series, which recall letters or messages that are shared in secret or tucked away for safekeeping.
